Extractions

While there are a number of reasons why you must need to have a tooth or teeth extracted, it can still be a daunting process. It is important that you have a reliable Glen Carbon dentist you can rely on to ensure everything goes smoothly. At Ginger Creek Dental, we have 15 years of experience extracting teeth, in addition to other dental procedures. Whether you need your wisdom teeth taken out, which is a common procedure, or a tooth which has become decayed beyond repair, we are here to help.

The most common reasons that teeth need to be extracted include:

  • Teeth which are decayed or damaged
  • Teeth which are crowded and do not have room
  • Teeth which are promoting infection
  • Tooth which have been fractured

Wisdom Teeth Extraction

Although not every person needs to have their wisdom teeth removed, it is very common for you to not have enough room in your mouth for any or all of them. With a thorough examination and X-Rays, we can see the current position of your teeth and determine whether or not there is enough room for your wisdom teeth. If our evaluation shows that there is not sufficient room or that your wisdom teeth are impacted, we will plan to remove them.

Wisdom teeth are typically extracted with the help of local anesthesia. Although there are instances where you may opt to go under general anesthesia or IV sedation, Novocain is typically enough to numb you for the procedure. Our dentists are very practiced at the extraction of teeth. Once we have carefully extracted your teeth, we will provide you with thorough instructions on how to protect your gums and mouth from damage or infection.
